The coolest talk with Mahadev vasireddy
“When you have the most happening place you also create the most happening individuals.”
Don’t take or think of AI as a Calculator!
- Mahadev Vasireddy
Mahadev Vasireddy is an innovative and resourceful person with out of the box ideas to drive the institutes into the industry 4.0 era. He is an effective communicator and great motivator of the team VVIT & VIVA. Following his father’s spirit of dreaming big has been working on to bring the world closer through "Freela – truly free freelancing" a blockchain based decentralised initiative as its Founder and CEO. With age working to his advantage, he is very popular with the student community and steers Student Activity Council with élan.
A. The main purpose of Freela is always to connect developing countries and developed countries' resources with each other so that developing countries can take advantage of the jobs and work that are available in developed countries without needing any middlemen.
2. What is the college’s vision for the future, and how do you see your role in helping to realize that vision?
A. . In Elon’s words, College is not where you go to study technical education, because that is usually learnt at the job later! (Lol). College is where people learn to live their life away from family, learning things, building things, building relationships, building a team. So, ‘College is a place where Humans grow and evolve to become the better citizens of the world’ and we always felt that VVIT has created better humans.
- VVIT is known for its Most Happening Place! Is it?
A. . I would like to believe that when you have the most happening place it also creates the most happening individuals, which is the aim of the institution. We always try our best to maintain that.
3. What is your leadership philosophy, and how do you motivate and inspire your team to achieve their best?
A. I truly believe that A true leader or a good leader is when the team can work, or the company can run without their existence. So, if someone’s able to design a company, or firm or build an army where on the day it matters, he doesn’t need to be there but, his ideologies and his leadership can be felt through the team’s actions. I feel he is the greatest of all the leaders and I strive to be like that.
4. What are your views on the evolving role of technology in education, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic?
A. We have clearly seen that a lot of digital resources can be taken advantage of by the new-age students who have access to the internet and technology. So, we felt it was a good addition to the educational field, especially in a developing country where resources have been less than adequate for a lot of decades.
- Do you really think that Digital Resources like ChatGPT and other AI protocols are really advantageous to the students?
A. AI protocols like ChatGPT are to be seen as bigger instruments than just helping us. Imagine when the computer was invented, it not only helped the previous generation but shaped it. In a similar way, AI protocols are not just going to help but they are going to shape what the next few decades are going to look like, at the very least. So, Students should be able to use it, manage it, manipulate it, and take advantage of AI rather than just thinking of it as a calculator.
5. What challenges do colleges face today, and how is your institution addressing these challenges?
A. To be honest, for the institution, the last few years have been curbed by the fee limitations and all. So, we are trying our best to make sure that the ‘Quality of education is not compromised for the students’. The students can probably see it.
6. What personal values or philosophies guide your leadership in higher education, and how do they align with the college’s mission?
A. I have personally been at two extreme ends of my life and the academics (laughs) where I have been on the Dean’s list and honour’s program at the same time. And there were semesters I didn’t do and had to repeat them.. I understand the mindsets of both ends of the academic spectrum. I try my best to address both sides honoring our dear chairman Vidya Sagar sir’s idea of “Everyone Counts”. For every student, there is a family that thinks he/she is the one. So, we always like to believe every person on the campus is “The One” for us.
7. Can you share a crucial moment or decision in your career that had a significant impact on your success?
A. I will let you know once I am successful.
(That was a WOAH! Answer we’ve ever heard)
8. So, what was the main idea/theme behind SAC? How did you get the thought of it? Was the main idea yours or did something help to do that?
A. Uhm! Let me not take credit for it. SAC was formed in the year 2015-16. It was done by my closest friends back then. It was more of their idea than mine when it started out. It was a simple student body that has evolved quite a bit to reach where we are at now and be autonomous.
9. So how did blockchain technology meet food technology?
A. (Laughs) We… have met in Hyderabad. We met through common friends and we kind of shared common thoughts, very similar human nature and interests and yeah! It went quite well from there!
10. As a young dynamo who inspires many youngsters, what suggestions or tips do you want to give future techies?
A. Be in Tech or Non-Tech, one thing to have in mind is “We always create something to benefit humanity and we should never expect humanity or humans to just align with your thoughts” In other words “You build for the bigger structure not the other way around!”
So, whatever you do, whatever we built, it should be benefit humanity!
